Aerial view of Niagara Falls with Goat Island in the middle.
We had a great view of the
falls from our 21st floor room with balcony so we could even hear the roar of
the falls.
The street to the left of the hotel was called Clifton Hill and it reminded us
of the boardwalk at Ocean City with it's many rides, haunted houses, wax museums
and ice cream shops.
What a view!!
750,000 gallons of water go over the Horseshoe Falls every second.
Hydro-electric power is a very important part of Niagara Falls. The two white towers near the top in the middle are part of the water intake system. The water enters there and goes underground through the city of Niagara Falls (behind where this picture was taken from) to a power plant down river. But the amount of water going over the falls is very important to the tourist trade so only so much water can be diverted from the falls. The bridge like structure below the two towers measures the water flow and controls the amount of water diverted. More water is diverted at night and during the winter.
A look back across the Rainbow Bridge at Niagara Falls, New York.
And at the gardens in front of the hotel.
