On July 28, 2023 Jim & Diane headed north to Brookville N.Y. to see favorites Penn & Teller at the Tilles Center for The Performing Arts.

As usual, when we're heading north, we stopped for lunch with good friends Jack & Pat Betzal. They suggested Stanley's in Wilmington, DE and it turned out to be a great suggestion.

Unfortunately we hit New York City about 4:30 on a Friday evening. It took us an hour and a half to travel about 24 miles to the Hotel in Port Washington, NY. This did give us plenty of time to reach the Tilles Center for the 7:00 reception. Since the Tilles Center is close to where friend Deborah Norville lives and I had extra tickets, I invited her and her husband to join us. He was going to be out of the country but she said she'd love to join us.

Our contact, Shannon, at the Tilles Center made us feel very welcomed when we arrived there.

I had told Deborah that the show started at 8:00 but that we were invited to a reception that started at 7:00 if she wanted to come that early. As we were pulling in to our reserved parking spot I received a text from Deborah saying that she was in the parking lot and wondering where to go. After Diane and I found the "Founders Room", I went looking for Deborah and found her very quickly. The three of us sat at a small table enjoying our snacks and drinks and caught up for almost an hour.

The show was great with as much comedy as magic. Deborah suggested and took a selfie.

After the show we went back stage to meet Penn & Teller and be taught a couple magic tricks.

Penn mentioned that he was happy because he didn't have to bend over for a picture for once.

Teller spoke to us as he teaches us a trick with an "perfectly ordinary" deck of cards that he had given us.

After the show Deborah invited Diane & I out for a bite to eat at a French Bistro, Bar Frites, that was close by.

While eating Deborah asked if we had any other plans for the weekend. Diane mention that some of her friends had suggested visiting Theodore Roosevelt's home in Oyster Bay, NY. She that was OK but Old Westbury Village was much nicer. We took her advice and went there the next day. It was a beautiful estate but there weren't many flowers in bloom.

Then we took a ride by Deborah's house in Mill Neck. Unfortunately you can't see the house from the road but it's a absolutely beautiful area. Then we went on to nearby Bayville to checkout Connecticut across the Long Island Sound.
